# Douyin API: video search, comments and replies

Use ChinaAPI to search public Douyin content, retrieve a video and collect available comments and replies. Each capability has its own request parameters and per-call price; this is a third-party integration, not an official Douyin developer API.

## Choose a video before collecting comments

Start with keyword search, select a relevant result and retain its aweme_id as a string. Pass that ID to the comments endpoint; the post endpoint expects share_url. A video URL is not interchangeable with an aweme_id.

## Comment pages and replies have different identifiers

Comments use aweme_id. Replies use item_id for the video and comment_id for a parent comment. Start cursor at 0 and count at 20. The current comments contract uses App V3 cursors; do not reuse a cursor saved from an older Web implementation.

## Avoid paying repeatedly for overlapping pages

Pages can contain repeated comments even when the cursor advances. Deduplicate by cid, stop on a repeated cursor or a page without new IDs, and set a hard maximum number of pages. Each successful page is billed even when some items overlap.

## What a result does and does not establish

Returned comments are a sample available at request time. Deleted content, visibility changes and retrieval limits can affect results. Do not present a bounded collection as the complete discussion or a representative audience survey.

## Billing and limits

First top-up required; trial credit is excluded. No SLA. Synchronous empty or failed results are not charged. Every successful page is separately billed. Follow platform terms; personal profiling and private-content access are excluded.
